São Paulo Court of Appeals launches LGPD guide
São Paulo Court of Appeals has launched a microsite about the Brazilian General Data Protection Law (LGPD), which came into effect on August 1, and which was developed by the Information Technology Secretariat and the Presidency Secretariat.
The TJSP site intends to provide visibility and transparency regarding the implementation of the organisational governance model for compliance with the LGPD, according to a note from law firm Tozzini Freire, penned by partners Carla do Couto Hellu Battilana (pictured), Marcela Walksman Ejinsman and Patricia Helena Marta Martins.
The site can be visited here.
The site includes sections providing information made avalable by the data protection law’s management committee and a brief compliance schedule, in addition to aspects of the LGPD including citizens’ rights as well as policies that are under review or in the process of creation.
With the launch of the site, the TJSP is demonstrating its concern regarding the implementation of and compliance with the LGPD, and its preparation to process lawsuits that may arise with the entry into force of the law, according to the authors of the note.
The current issue of The Latin American Lawyer includes an article in which leading lawyers in Brazil analyse the implications of the LGPD, and which is available for free download here.
