SFCS advises Atiaia on BRL 823m solar complex

SFCS Advogados advised Atiaia Renováveis — including Sol do Agreste Geração de Energia and Solar do Nordeste Energia Renovável — on all legal aspects of the development and execution of the Sol do Agreste Solar Complex, a renewable energy project located in the state of Pernambuco, Brazil. The project reached commercial operations in March 2026, following an approximate investment of BRL 823 million.

Other parties involved in the project included WEG Turbinas e Solar, SIMM Soluções, Afaplan and L2 Engenharia de Projetos. The final testing phase of the generating units commenced in November 2025, preceding authorization from the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL) for the start of operations.

The project was notable for the volume and complexity of its contractual interactions, involving multiple stakeholders and parallel workstreams that required coordinated legal efforts to mitigate risks, preserve economic and financial balance, and ensure proper allocation of contractual responsibilities throughout execution.

The matter was led by partner Rafael Lemos (pictured), with the involvement of Beatriz Maia and Bruna Trupel, all from the firm’s infrastructure and energy practice, focusing on the legal structuring of the project and the predictability of contractual relationships.
