Shearman & Sterling adds to Latin American practice group

Shearman & Sterling announced the return of Alejandro A. Gordano to the firm from an in-house role at Credit Suisse.

Gordano regularly advises issuers and underwriters on international capital market transactions. As Director & Public Disclosure Counsel at Credit Suisse in Zurich and New York, he advised senior management on US securities law matters and filings under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. Gordano was an associate in Shearman & Sterling’s capital markets practice in New York from 2005 to 2013. He began his legal career as an associate at Marval, O’Farrell & Mairal, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

At present, Gordano is practicing from the firm’s London office, before moving to New York next year.

“We are delighted to welcome Alejandro back to Shearman & Sterling,” said Antonia Stolper, Shearman & Sterling’s Latin America Regional Managing Partner. “Alejandro’s many years at the firm, together with his broad regulatory experience, further deepens our extensive capabilities in Latin America as we continue to expand our coverage in the region.”

“I am excited to return to Shearman & Sterling,” Gordano said. “This position is a great opportunity for me because of the firm’s long-established Latin America practice, and I look forward to helping contribute to the success of the team.”
