Shearman & Sterling advised GE on acquisition of stake in YPF Energia Electrica

Shearman & Sterling advised GE Capital on its acquisition of a 25% stake in YPF Energía Eléctrica. 

YPF Energía Eléctrica is the electricity generating unit of YPF, the Argentinean state-owned oil company. 

When the transaction is final, GE Capital and YPF will jointly control the electricity company. GE Capital will pay $275 million for its 24.99% stake, in addition to a $35 million contingent payment. 

The Shearman & Sterling team included partners Robert Freedman and Jonathan Kellner.
