SIA launches Restructuring and Insolvency area
Silva Ibáñez Abogados has announced the launch of its new Restructuring and Insolvency practice, following the incorporation of counsel Álvaro Lavín González (pictured), an expert in insolvency matters, advisor in the different procedures of the Law on Reorganisation and Liquidation of Assets of Companies and Individuals.
The objective of this area will be to provide advice to creditors in the different procedures contemplated in the aforementioned Law or, if the case so requires, advising debtors in the implementation of complex financial restructuring, negotiation and processing of judicial and extrajudicial reorganisation agreements and/or bankruptcy liquidation proceedings.

Álvaro is a lawyer graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and holds an LLM UC, with a specialisation in Business Law from the same university, where he was a legal advisor to the Superintendency of Bankruptcy, where he was also part of the working group that prepared the draft of the current Law on Reorganisation and Liquidation of Assets of Companies and Individuals (Law 20.720), forming part of the Technical Commission appointed by the Senate. Previously, he was a partner of the law firm Constantinidis & Lavín Abogados and worked as head lawyer and then manager of Legal Affairs at Empresas La Polar, as well as associate lawyer at Alessandri y Cía.
