Simpson Thacher and Ritch Mueller advise on debt securities issuance by América Móvil
Simpson Thacher and Ritch Mueller have advised the underwriters on the issuance and placement by América Móvil of MXN $17.5 billion (approximately USD $1.1 billion) aggregate principal amount of 10.125% Senior Notes under a Global Note Programme in Mexico and the United States.
This transaction closed on 27 March, and involved both Mexican and US jurisdictions. Cleary Gottlieb and Robles Miaja Abogados acted as counsel to América Móvil in the US and Mexico, respectively.
The notes are registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the Comisión Nacional Bancaria y de Valores, and will be listed on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange for trading on the Euro MTF Market and the Mexican Stock Exchange.
América Móvil will use the net proceeds from the offering of the notes for general corporate purposes.
BBVA Securities, Citigroup Global Markets, Goldman Sachs, HSBC Securities (USA), Inversora Bursátil Casa de Bolsa, J.P. Morgan Securities, Morgan Stanley and Santander US Capital Markets acted as underwriters.
Mexico-based América Móvil is one of the leading providers of telecommunications services in Latin America, ranking first in wireless, fixed-line, broadband and pay-TV services based on the number of revenue generating units (RGUs). América Móvil’s largest operations are in Mexico and Brazil. América Móvil also operates in 14 other countries in the Americas and seven countries in Central and Eastern Europe. As of 31 December 2023, América Móvil had 310.1 million wireless voice and data subscriptions and 73.7 million fixed RGUs.
