Simpson Thacher instructed on Archer Daniels Midland asset sale in Bolivia

Simpson Thacher & Bartlett advised Inversiones Piuranas on its acquisition of the Bolivian oilseeds operations of Archer Daniels Midland Company.

Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) is one of the world’s largest agricultural processors and food ingredient providers, with approximately 32,000 employees and operations in over 160 countries. In Bolivia, the company processes soybeans and sunflower into oils and protein meal and employs 400 staff.

Inversiones Piuranas is part of the Grupo Romero group, a Peruvian conglomerate. The sale includes ADM’s processing facility in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, as well as nine grain silos and its Bolivian distribution business. The transaction, which is subject to regulatory approvals, is expected to close in the first half of 2018; until then, ADM will continue to operate the assets.

Partner Jaime Mercado led the team advising Inversiones Piuranas.
