Souto Correa announces Giacomo Paro as new CEO
Souto Correa Advogados has announced that Giacomo Paro (pictured), a partner in the tax area, will succeed Guilherme Rizzo Amaral as CEO, marking the first time that the leadership will be assumed by a non-founding partner. Guilherme Amaral succeeded the firm’s first CEO, co-founder Carlos Souto, in 2021.
Paro was elected to the position after a vote among the partners and will begin his three-year term on January 1. He says he plans to consolidate Souto Correa’s position in the Brazilian market, reinforcing the firm’s commitments to diversity and the adoption of technologies that will provide a competitive advantage. Another area of focus during Paro’s tenure will be navigating the tax reforms underway in Brazil, predicting an increase in work as companies adapt to the new regulations.
The new CEO, Paro, was promoted to partner in 2020, after joining Souto Correa in 2016. Previously, he served as an associate at Mattos Filho for eight years and was involved in several significant mergers and acquisitions while at Souto Correa.
