Souto Correa represents Gilberto Gil and producer in lawsuit
Souto Correa Advogados represented Gilberto Gil and Gege Produções Artísticas in a lawsuit in which American rapper Tyler, the Creator will pay Gilberto Gil damages in the amount of US$ 50,000 (approximately R$ 245,000 at the current exchange rate) for using a song by the Brazilian music icon without prior authorization.
On December 6, the rapper launched an advertising campaign for his brand, Golf Le Fleur, with the track “Duplo Sentido”, composed by Gil, as the soundtrack. Souto Correa relied on partner Letícia Provedel (pictured), who represented Gilberto Gil and Gege Produções Artísticas, which manages the musician’s career.
Gil and Tyler, the Creator spoke by phone. During the call, the American apologized to the Brazilian and said that he had not been informed that “Duplo Sentido” had not been released. Tyler removed the content from his social networks.
The rapper also declared himself a fan of Gil and immediately offered to resolve the issue.
