SouzaOkawa announces new partner and new head Guilherme Martins (pictured left) arrives to strengthen tax; Daniela Afonso (pictured right) comes to develop and lead the energy area.

With over 15 years’ experience, Guilherme strengthens the firm’s already renowned Tax area, focusing on indirect taxes and judicial and administrative litigation. Director of Tax Affairs at ABComm – Brazilian E-commerce Association, the new partner was a member of the Retail Competitiveness Forum, promoted by the Ministry of Economy and has worked in large law firms and actively participated in debates and projects of great relevance.

Daniela Afonso joins SouzaOkawa to develop and lead the Energy area. With over 20 years’ experience, she has worked in both law firms and major companies in the electric sector. Over the last ten years, Daniela has worked in the renewable energy industry, leading M&A transactions, concession auctions, power purchase agreements and project financing. She was legal director at Grupo Rede Energia and CTG Brasil, as well as legal and regulatory director at SPIC Brasil.

The new head is a member of the board of directors of the Brazilian Association of Electricity Companies (ABCE) and is a member of the OAB-SP Law Commission. She has a specialization in Electricity Sector Regulation from IE Business School and a master’s degree in Business Law from USP.

The new members of SouzaOkawa underline the firm’s commitment to excellence, multidisciplinarity and the constant development of services, by delivering ever more complete solutions to meet clients’ business needs.
