Stocche Forbes act on the incorporation of Tocantins Carbono

Stocche Forbes advised Mercuria Energy Trading (METSA) on the incorporation of a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) (Tocantins Carbono), between Companhia Imobiliária de Participações, Investimentos e Parcerias – Tocantins Parcerias and METSA, based on METSA’s participation in Public Call Edital 001/2022.
Tocantins Carbono will be responsible for conducting the certification processes and qualifying the State of Tocantins to operate in the voluntary carbon market through a jurisdictional REDD+ project.

This deal involved the firm’s corporate, regulatory, environmental, compliance and civil teams and marks the State of Tocantins as the first State in Brazil and one of the pioneers in the world to trade carbon credits in the voluntary carbon market.
