Tanoira Cassagne acts for Lagash in buyout by MercadoLibre
Argentinian law firm Tanoira Cassagne has advised software company Lagash on its acquisition by MercadoLibre, in the latter’s move to open new development centres in Mexico, Chile and Colombia and grow its IT centre in Argentina.
The law firm described the transaction as MercadoLibre’s most important in terms of the capture of talent and their incorporation into its team.
MercadoLibre is Argentina’s most-valued company, with a market capitalisation above $27 billion. Software developer Lagash was founded in 2011 and has a presence in Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Uruguay, Argentina and the US.
“Lagash is a strategic acquisition for MercadoLibre as it faces growing challenges in e-commerce, fintech and logistics,” MercadoLibre said in a statement.
Tanoira Cassagne’s team was led by partners Alejandro Ciero (pictured) and Jaime Uranga, with associates Ezequiel Peña, Clara Arias and Juan Sanguinetti.
Jimenez de Aréchaga, Viana & Brause advised MercadoLibre, with partner Nicolás Herrera Alonso and associate Constanza Bourdieu, in Uruguay.
MercadoLibre’s in-house team was led by Tomás Hermida Zapiola and Eugenia de la Puerta Echeverria.
