Tauil & Chequer adds Public and Corporate law team

Tauil & Chequer in association with Mayer Brown announced Flávio Amaral and Henrique Rocha join the firm’s Public Law and Corporate Law practice as partners

pjimage 2021 08 25T110713.256Tauil & Chequer has announced that a team of five lawyers has joined the firm included the new partners of Public Law and Corporate Law practice Henrique Rocha (pictured left) and Flávio Amaral (pictured right).

They lead a team of three additional lawyers, all of whom join as counsel, including Jessé Torres, Felipe Derbil and Rodrigo Zamão. The team joins from Juruena Advogados, where they focused their practice on public and administrative law.

Flávio boasts more than 25 years of experience in corporate law, with an emphasis on bidding, administrative contracts, regulation and infrastructure. He is an arbitrator at the Chamber of Arbitration and Mediation of the Federation of Industries of Paraná, Brazilian Center for Mediation and Arbitration (CBMA); FGV Chamber of Mediation and Arbitration and Chamber of Arbitration and Mediation of Santa Catarina; and has been acting as an arbitrator in disputes involving the Public Administration.

Henrique has practiced for more than 20 years in public and corporate law and led legal teams working on large-scale public-private projects, as well as arbitration disputes. Among other positions in the public sector, he worked as Legal Director of The Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES), Legal Director of BNDES Participações S.A. and Deputy Attorney General of the State of Rio de Janeiro.

Jessé, is an arbitrator listed in the CBMA and a retired judge, after 37 years, on the Court of Justice of Rio de Janeiro. He is president of the Permanent Sustainable Public Management Forum and Vice-President of the School of Magistracy of the State of Rio de Janeiro Administrative Probity and Public Transparency Forum, and the author of numerous books and articles related to corporate law.

Felipe has 20 years in consultancy and strategic litigation experience in constitutional, financial, regulatory and social security disputes. He is a former Rio de Janeiro State Attorney, and advises corporate clients and government entities in legal disputes and arbitrations involving matters of public law. Previously, Felipe was Legal Director of the Single Social Security Fund of the State of Rio de Janeiro, and Advisor to Minister Luiz Fux at the Federal Supreme Court.

Rodrigo is a member of the Public Law and Administrative Law Committees of the Brazilian Bar Association – Rio de Janeiro jurisdiction and has focused on public contracts, administrative sanctions, administrative improbity and the Courts of Auditors for more than 15 years. Rodrigo is also formerly a Rio de Janeiro State Attorney and Rio de Janeiro State Attorney General.
