Tauil & Chequer assistis Guardian in the acquisition of 15 Atacadão

Tauil & Chequer Advogados in association with Mayer Brown assisted Guardian Real Estate Investment Fund (GARE11) on the acquisition of 15 properties owned by Atacadão, part of the Carrefour Group, across various locations in Brazil.

The deal, valued at BRL 725 million, was conducted through a sale-leaseback transaction, a model in which the owner sells a property and then leases it back.

Of the properties acquired by Guardian, 40% are located in the state of São Paulo, 41% in the Central-West region, 6% in the Northeast, 6% in the North, and 6% in the South. In total, the 15 stores comprise 264,000 square meters of gross leasable area.

Tauil & Chequer relied on partner José Paulo Marzagão (pictured) and counsel Maria Carolina Gimenez, both from the Real Estate Transactions and Investments practice. The transaction team also included counsel Jessica Nunes de Queiroz and associates Juliana Augusta de Abreu, Luiz Antonio Bonfiglioli Menezes, and Lais Marques Palma, all part of the Real Estate Transactions and Investments practice.
