Themudo Lessa advise Orizon on a JV with Gás Verde

Themudo Lessa Advogados advised Orizon Valorização de Resíduos (ORVR3), one of the leading companies in the waste management sector in Brazil that have together with Gás Verde, the largest producer of biomethane in Latin America and part of Grupo Urca Energia, concluded the transaction that establishes two joint venture companies dedicated to the construction and operation of two biomethane plants in the São Gonçalo and Nova Iguaçu ecoparks.

Both Orizon and Gás Verde will own equal stakes, each holding a 50% share in the joint venture companies.

The transaction expands Orizon’s portfolio of biomethane projects, reinforcing its market positioning and contribution to Brazil’s energy transition, as it will quadruple its biomethane production with two new plants, increasing the production of this renewable fuel in the country by 50%.

These facilities aim for an initial production capacity of 180,000 cubic meters per day of biomethane. Currently, Orizon’s biomethane production is approximately 50,000 cubic meters per day. With the new units, this volume will increase to 200,000 cubic meters per day. The investment in the two plants will be hundreds of millions of reais.
