TozziniFreire advises PE firm on Contech stake purchase

Brazilian law firm TozziniFreire has acted as counsel to a local private equity firm in its purchase of a stake in Contech Produtos Biodegradáveis

João Busin of TozziniFreireThe private equity fund, Fundo de Investimento em Participações Multiestratégia Performa Key de Inovação em Meio Ambiente, focuses on companies with an environmental slant, and purchased a 37.5-per cent stake in Contech Brasil by converting part of the credit related to a debenture issued by the latter company. 

Fundo de Investimento em Participações Multiestratégia Performa Key de Inovação em Meio Ambiente is managed by São Paulo-based Lions Trust, an independent fund administrator focused on structuring investment vehicles and providing fiduciary/operational services to the alternative fund industry, with private equity, venture capital, seed capital, and real estate and infrastructure investments.

Contech provides customised chemical and intelligent solutions for the pulp and paper industry. 

TozziniFreire’s team was led by partners João Busin (pictured) and Kenneth Ferreira (pictured below), with associates Victor Frias Françoso, Daiane Nunes, Barbara Correa de Queiroz and Gabriel Dantas Oliveira Duplat Paiva.
