TozziniFreire announces two Italian Desk and Portuguese Desk

TozziniFreire Advogados, with part of this expansion of its already consolidated international presence, with 13 partners currently involved in the front line of its global strategy, the firm establishes two new initiatives: Italian Desk and Portuguese Desk.

Both aim to boost an already comprehensive structure covering Latin American and German-speaking countries, as well as China, Japan, and Korea. “The relationship between Brazil and these countries goes far beyond history and extremely relevant commercial activity, involving great potential for generating new business,” says Shin Jae Kim (pictured left), partner of the firm’s Executive Committee and co-chair of TozziniFreire’s International Strategy Committee.

Italian Desk

Italy is very present throughout Brazil’s history, whether in industry, services, or tourism. The head partner of this Desk, Giovanni Falcetta, has extensive knowledge of the country’s business reality. Beyond having lived in the country for several different periods and continuing consistently close to its incursions, he is an Italian citizen and has a deep knowledge of the country’s culture and language, as well as a solid network within the Italian business community.

“Our focus is on fostering opportunities for collaboration with clients and local companies in this region, which is very strategic for business, especially when it comes to foreign investment and transactional work, both of which are part of TozziniFreire’s DNA,” says Giovanni.

The Desk assists clients not only in starting their business in the region, but also advises Brazilians companies in entering the Italian market, using local partners. TozziniFreire’s work in this region is highly regarded and was recently recognized with the Italian Desk Award, granted by the Legal Community.

Portuguese Desk
Relations between Brazil and Portugal need no introduction and our Portuguese Desk currently has two partners: Giovanni Falcetta (pictured center) and João Ribeiro da Costa (pictured right). Born in Portugal, João has lived in Brazil, working in the Brazilian market, for around 20 years and maintains daily contact with Portuguese clients, authorities, and firms, playing an active role in various associations that promote connection between the two sides of the Atlantic.

According to him, TozziniFreire’s Portuguese Desk is one of the most relevant and comprehensive foreign desks among Brazilian law firms, which ensures the best support for business generation in a safe and agile way not only between Brazil and Portugal, but also among Brazil and other countries that comprise the CPLP (Community of Portuguese Language Countries, including Angola, Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe, and East Timor) and Forum Macao (which encompasses China and the CPLP countries).

“We strive to promote a natural business environment between Brazil and Portugal with solid partnerships and wide support for Portuguese and European companies that aim to invest in Brazil from Portugal, as well as advising Brazilian companies seeking international expansion. We have taken the opportunity to expand this favorable business channel with Brazil to the countries that are part of the CPLP and Forum Macao, making use of the region’s special statute in China.” – states João Ribeiro Costa.
