Trench Rossi Watanabe advises Biomas on project in Bahia

Trench Rossi Watanabe advised Biomas – an ecosystem regeneration company whose shareholders include Itaú, Marfrig, Rabobank, Santander, Suzano and Vale – on the development of the Muçununga Project, an initiative aimed at restoring 1,200 hectares of Atlantic Forest in the south of Bahia and generating high integrity carbon credits.

The Trench Rossi Watanabe team was led by partners Renata Amaral (pictured left) and Manuela Demarche (pictured right), from the environment and sustainability practice, and by partners Maurício Pacheco and Marcel Nunes, from the transactional group, with the participation of associates Munique Isoppo, Caroline Strehler, Renata Yuasa and Isabella Sinetti, and legal assistant Victoria Villas Boas.

The Muçununga Project, carried out in partnership with Veracel Celulose, plans to plant more than two million seedlings of native species over the next two years, with the direct involvement of local communities right from the planning stage.
