Trench Rossi Watanabe advises Neoenergia joint venture
Trench Rossi Watanabe advised Neoenergia on the formation of a joint venture with Carbon2Nature, a Spanish company specializing in nature-based solutions (NBS) for the generation of carbon credits. Carbon2Nature is controlled by the Spanish group Iberdrola, of which Neoenergia is also a member.
The joint venture, in which Neoenergia will hold a 49% stake and Carbon2Nature will control 51%, aims to implement projects in deforested areas in Brazil, including replanting, forest management and control and safety monitoring. The new company also plans to rehabilitate and conserve mangroves in the country, contributing to the generation of carbon credits and promoting sustainable development.
According to the data released by Neonergia, the estimate for the coming years is to capture more than 10 million tons of CO2, with a density of 15 million trees spread over more than 19,000 hectares. In addition to Brazil, the company already has projects under development in Spain and is expanding its operations to other countries, such as Colombia, Mexico and Chile.
Trench Rossi Watanabe was joined by partner José Roberto Martins, Renata Amaral and Mauricio Pacheco (pictured from left to right) and associates Munique Isoppo and Luca Contesini.
Neoenergia’s lawyers Mariane Carvalho Medeiros and Matheus Gouvea Peralta Santos participated in the operation.
