Trench Rossi Watanabe advises NFL on holding game in Brazil
Trench Rossi Watanabe advised NFL International Licensing on the legal structuring for the staging of a regular season National Football League (NFL) game in Brazil, scheduled for September 2025. The work covered tax, customs, immigration, corporate, contractual, regulatory, data privacy and intellectual property issues.
In addition to consolidating the country as a relevant destination for international sporting events, the match is expected to have a significant impact on São Paulo’s economy, boosting sectors such as tourism, hotels, transportation and local commerce, just as it did in 2024, when the NFL’s debut in Brazil attracted a great deal of media and business attention.
The Trench Rossi Watanabe team was led by partners Anna Mello and Thales Stucky, with the participation of partners Clarissa Lehmen and Felipe Ferenzini, counsel Marcia Calafate and associates João Miguel Damous, Gabriel Valuche and Giselle Lutaif.
