Trench Rossi Watanabe structures internal ESG area
Trench Rossi Watanabe recently set up a new administrative area to coordinate all its internal ESG (environmental, social and governance) activities. The new area is led by the Legal and Compliance director, Gustavo Biagioli (pictured), and has unified governance, which was already under his management, with the firm’s corporate social responsibility and environmental committees.
The department has been optimizing processes and setting cross-cutting targets for the firm’s three ESG pillars. The aim is to make the work more strategic and targeted, in line with the best practices in the market.A diverse team was fundamental to the development of the ESG area
Currently, 62% of the employees in the internal ESG area are women, 46% are black and 31% graduated in areas other than law. Diversity in other pillars is also strong, with employees from different age groups and people with disabilities. All new hires in the area are made through affirmative action.
Partners Clarissa Machado and Anna Mello, respectively heads of the Pro Bono and Corporate Social Responsibility and DE&I committees, are the sponsors of the new ESG area and continue to lead the respective committees, with administrative support from the ESG team.
