Two firms advises on Grupo Jaime Câmara deal

Cescon Barrieu advised Rede Matogrossense de Comunicação on the acquisition of 85% stake in Grupo Jaime Câmara, a Brazilian media conglomerate operating television stations, radio stations, newspapers, news websites and digital media platforms across the states of Goiás and Tocantins. The transaction, remains pending closing, and the financial terms have not been disclosed.

Grupo Jaime Câmara is the main operator of Organizações Globo’s content in Goiás and Tocantins. The buyer, Rede Matogrossense de Comunicação, is a media group based in Mato Grosso and is reportedly linked to Grupo Zahran, according to public sources. The sellers in the transaction are individuals, and the deal covers 85% of the target company’s share capital, with the transaction value kept confidential.

Cescon Barrieu advised the buyer, Rede Matogrossense de Comunicação, with the team formed by partner Darkson Galvão (pictured left) and senior associate Jorge Flesch.

Pinheiro Neto Advogados represented both the target company and the selling shareholders. The team was led by partner Pythagoras Carvalho (pictured right), together with senior associate Luiz Fernando Lockmann e Souza and associates Juliano Lopes and Alexandre Trevine.
