Uruguay’s Brum Costa promotes partner
Uruguayan law firm Brum Costa has promoted lawyer María Paula Garat Delgado to partner, and who takes charge of the Montevideo-based firm’s public law department.
Paula (pictured) will also lead Brum Costa’s counsel and litigation team in the areas of constitutional, administrative and tax laws.
Paula has been with the firm since 2010 and holds a PhD in constitutional law. She is a professor in financial law at the Universidad Católica del Uruguay.
“We are proud to announce her promotion to partner, in recognition of her professional excellence, and which is part of the firm’s consolidation as one of the most prestigious in the country,” the law firm said in a statement.
Paula has significant experience in analysis as well as corporate, regulatory and tax advice, especially in the practical application of tax provisions, providing assistance to clients in their dealings with the tax authorities, and has represented clients in both administrative and tax proceedings, the firm said.
Her experience includes antitrust and sanctioning procedures, and she has achieved successful outcomes in cases before the Supreme Court of Justice.
She has also participated in arbitration proceedings and is experienced in providing regulatory advice to clients operating in various sectors, as well as in bidding processes, state purchases and public-private contracts, the firm said.
