Veirano Advogados announced eight new partners for 2022
Veirano Advogados has announced the promotion of eight associates to new partners for 2022.
They are Alberto Monteiro, Bruno Habib Negreiros Barbosa, Daniel Augusto Malatesta, and Gisela Miranda (top image, left to right). And Julia Tamer Langen, Juliana Costa, Raphael Roberto Caropreso, and Vanessa Felício (bottom image, left to right).
The new partners will work in different areas, strengthening the teams in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
About the new partners:
Alberto Monteiro is a member of the São Paulo office’s Compliance & Investigations and Antitrust & Competition practice areas, with more than 13 years of practice dedicated to antitrust, compliance and investigations. Experienced in Antitrust Law issues, Alberto has conducted several internal investigations involving large corporate groups and has significant experience before CADE, in conduct investigations and complex merger notifications. After completing his LL.M. at Columbia University in 2015, Alberto had a distinguished performance in the US as a consultant for the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and as a visiting lawyer in the anti-corruption area of a renowned law firm based in Washington DC.
Bruno Habib Negreiros Barbosa is a member of the São Paulo Tax & Customs team, with over 10 years of experience in tax consulting and planning, focusing on tax implications involving M&A, corporate reorganizations, international transactions, debt restructuring, investments and divestments in the financial and capital markets, as well as analysis of tax treaties, transfer pricing and thin capitalization. In 2019, Bruno earned an LL.M. with distinction from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington DC.
A member of the São Paulo M&A, Private Equity and Venture Capital team, Daniel Augusto Malatesta has over 10 years of experience in corporate law and complex negotiations, with a focus on M&A private equity and venture capital. He represents startups and investors throughout the formation and development of the business and has experience in a wide variety of domestic and international transactions, especially joint ventures and M&A. As part of his practice, Daniel also represents offerors and underwriters in capital market transactions, as well as Brazilian companies preparing for their IPOs. With an LL.M. in Corporate Law from Instituto de Ensino e Pesquisa (Insper) in São Paulo in 2015 and an LL.M. from the University of Chicago Law School in 2018, Daniel worked as an international associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett between 2018 and 2019.
Gisela Miranda is part of the São Paulo Real Estate team, with over 17 years of practice focused on real estate law and contracts, covering structuring of real estate transactions, due diligence for risk analysis, real estate incorporations, acquisition of rural and urban properties, structuring of mixed real estate developments, drafting and negotiation of real estate contracts, metric rectification procedures, structuring of real estate investment funds and shopping centers, among others. In 2010, Gisela completed post-graduation in Public Law at Gama Filho University (UGF), in Rio de Janeiro.
Julia Tamer Langen is a member of the Insolvency & Restructuring area of the firm’s São Paulo office and has more than 13 years of experience in restructuring, judicial reorganization, out-of-court reorganization and bankruptcy proceedings, advising domestic and foreign creditors, as well as financial institutions, bondholders, distressed investors and debtors. With specialization in Civil Liability from Fundação Getulio Vargas in São Paulo (FGV-SP), Julia holds a Master in Commercial Law from the University of São Paulo (USP).
Juliana Costa is a member of the Tax & Customs team in Rio de Janeiro, with more than 13 years of experience in the areas of consulting, litigation and tax planning, focusing on projects involving M&A, corporate reorganizations and international operations, as well as application of international treaties in tax matters, customs issues and judicial and administrative tax litigation in all spheres. Juliana specialized in Tax Law at the Brazilian Institute of Tax Studies (IBET-RJ) and earned her LL.M. in International Taxation from the International Tax Center of Leiden University in the Netherlands in 2016. She also worked as an international tax advisor at Loyens & Loeff in Rotterdam.
Member of the Tax & Customs team in São Paulo, Raphael Roberto Caropreso has accumulated more than 11 years of practice focused on tax litigation. With practice in Brazilian administrative and judicial courts, including the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) and the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Raphael represents clients in tax proceedings in the administrative and judicial spheres before federal, state and local governments, in addition to participating in M&A transactions and coordinating tax audits. In 2016, Raphael earned an LL.M. with honors in taxation from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington DC.
Vanessa Felício joins the Corporate & M&A practice of the São Paulo office and has over 13 years of experience focused on M&A, corporate and contract law. Her practice covers complex M&A transactions, including purchase and sale of equity stakes, purchase and sale of assets, investments involving private equity funds, joint ventures and corporate restructurings. Vanessa also has experience in compliance and in coordinating investigations related to corruption and fraud. Vanessa earned her LL.M. from the University of Chicago Law School in 2015.
