Virgin Mobile Latin America instructs Baker Mckenzie, PPU on $40M multi-country financing

Philippi, Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría provided local counsel in Chile to Virgin Mobile Latin America on a financing granted by IFC.

Virgin Mobile Latin America obtained a $40.2 million loan with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Central American Mezzanine Infrastructure Fund II LP (CAMIF) for its operations in in Mexico and Colombia. The company used its Chilean subsidiary as guarantor. 

Virgin Mobile, which is a virtual operator of mobile telephony, retained Carlton Fields as New York counsel, Baker Mckenzie in Colombia and Mexico as well as PPU in Chile. 

Partner Alberto Pulido led the PPU team. 

The lenders, IFC and CAMIF, relied on Norton Rose Fulbright for New York counsel, Claro & Cïa in Chile; Posse Herrera Ruiz in Colombia and Ritch Mueller in Mexico.
