Paul Hastings recruits international arbitration partner from DLA Piper
Paul Hastings announced that Camilo Cardozo, former co-chair of the US International Arbitration practice group at DLA Piper, has joined the firm as a partner.
“International arbitration is increasingly the forum of choice for large cross-border disputes. We are focused on continuing to build this capability for our clients around the world,” said Barry Sher, global chair of the Litigation practice at Paul Hastings. “We are very excited Camilo is joining us given his experience in this important area,” he added.
Camilo Cardozo focuses on complex international disputes and has handled international arbitrations under numerous international arbitration rules in the US, the UK, Europe, and Latin America. Cardozo, a fluent Spanish speaker, has substantial experience handling disputes under investment treaties and disputes related to large infrastructure projects. He is qualified in NY and Colombia.
Cardozo’s arrival follows other recent developments at Paul Hastings signalling its expansion strategy in Latin America: the firm recenty hired Roberta Bassegio, a New York and Brazil qualified partner, from Brazilian law firm Veirano to open its new office in São Paulo. Earlier in 2015 Paul Hastings added Robert Kartheiser and Cathleen McLaughlin from Allen & Overy.
