ECIJA welcomes Tania Ávila as a new partner in Mexico
ECIJA has announced the strengthening of its labour area in Mexico with the integration of Tania Ávila Morfín (pictured) as a new partner.
Joaquín Rodríguez, member of the executive committee of ECIJA Mexico, highlights that the incorporation of Tania is key, as this is a crucial practice area for most of the companies already operating in Mexico, as well as for the many others that are currently interested in establishing themselves in our country to take advantage of the nearshoring momentum.
The new partner has more than 20 years of experience, her expertise encompasses corporate restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, social security litigation and close collaboration with federal authorities. She has been a key participant as a member of the Advisory Committee of the Consejo Coordinador Empresarial in Mexico, influencing the reforms to the Social Security Law on outsourcing.
Tania has advised numerous national and international clients, especially in the healthcare, food, automotive, logistics and hotel industries, among others, implementing corporate restructuring strategies and cost optimisation in benefits and benefits schemes. The partner excels in administrative and judicial social security proceedings, specialising in employee transfers, compliance investigations, as well as labour outsourcing strategies. Notable achievements include obtaining favourable resolutions in high-profile cases, successful employer substitution strategies and leading due diligence in international transactions.
She has previously led initiatives in her areas of specialisation, working at firms such as Chevez Ruiz Zamarripa, Baker McKenzie, Basham Ringe y Correa, Littler, Avila Morfin Abogados and, most recently, law+dgtal.
With this addition, the firm now has a total of 8 partners in Mexico, adding to the signings made last June and February, with the incorporation of Mike Margáin in the Intellectual Property area, as well as Carlos de Razo in the Environment and Sustainability department, respectively.
Tania Ávila, at the head of the labour department, consolidates ECIJA Mexico’s efforts to be a full-service firm led by a diverse and equitable team. With this incorporation, the number of women in the circle of partners rises to three, reinforcing female representation.
