Mattos Filho counsels Portocem Geração de Energia on issuance

Mattos Filho advised Portocem Geração de Energia on the public offering of debentures, non-convertible into shares, of the secured type, with additional corporate guarantee, in a single series, of the Issuer’s 1st issuance, in the total amount of R$4,500,000,000.00, intended for professional investors. 

The proceeds raised by Portocem through the Issuance will be used for the implementation of UTE PORTOCEM I, a natural gas-fired simple cycle thermoelectric plant with approximately 1572 MW of installed capacity, located in the municipality of Barcarena, State of Pará.

With commercial operations scheduled to begin in 2026, the plant will be the largest peaking power plant in Brazil and one of the largest facilities ever built in Latin America to provide reliable energy to the national grid in Brazil.

Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social – BNDES acted as the lead underwriter for the transaction.
