Estudio Echecopar represents multiple Peruvian-based banks on loan to UNACEM

Estudio Echecopar, a member firm of Baker & McKenzie International, played a key role in advising Banco BBVA Perú, Banco Internacional del Perú, and Scotiabank Perú on three unsecured loans totaling S/ 1,458’000,000.00.

These loans were granted to UNACEM Corp and UNACEM Perú to refinance existing debt, ensuring financial stability for the borrowers. UNACEM Group, a major player in cement production in Peru, has been actively pursuing strategies to optimize its debt structure. This significant financial transaction represents a milestone in the group’s efforts to strengthen its position in the region while ensuring long-term sustainability.

The legal team advising the lenders was led by Marco Alarcón (pictured left), partner at Estudio Echecopar, along with associate Mikela Echeandía (pictured right). In-house counsel for the lenders included Mateo Lanata from Banco BBVA Perú, Viviana Tapia from Banco Internacional del Perú, and Derek Ricketts from Scotiabank Perú.

Cuatrecasas, on the borrowers’ side, advised UNACEM Corp. and UNACEM Perú led by partner Kiomi Osorio and associate Luis Olazabal providing legal support.

Additionally, UNACEM Group’s legal team included José Luis Perry Gaviño as legal manager and Renzo Castagnino Abásolo as legal deputy manager.
