CBMA appoints a new Secretary-General
The Brazilian Center for Mediation and Arbitration (CBMA) announced the appointment of Marianna Marra (pictured) as Secretary-General, a role responsible for supervising and coordinating the institution’s administrative and procedural activities, ensuring the efficient and proper conduct of administered proceedings in compliance with applicable regulations.
Her responsibilities include overseeing cases from their commencement through to their conclusion, including arbitrations, mediations, and dispute board proceedings. She is also responsible for liaising with arbitrators, mediators, committee members, parties, and counsel, as well as supporting arbitral tribunals and other bodies on procedural and organizational matters.
In performing her duties, Marianna supports case management, the standardization of practices, and the continuous improvement of the services provided by CBMA within the scope of alternative dispute resolution (ADR).
In addition, the role of Secretary-General includes active participation in strengthening the institution, supporting the development of initiatives aimed at consolidating CBMA as a reference in the administration of complex disputes, both nationally and internationally.
Marianna holds a law degree from UFRJ and a postgraduate degree in Civil Procedure from PUC-Rio. She has extensive experience in litigation and dispute resolution at leading law firms, having also served as secretary to arbitral tribunals and worked with litigation funding, particularly in arbitration financing.
She has also completed a specialization course in Private International Law at The Hague Academy of International Law.
