Demarest advises Elkem on USD 2bn Silicones sale

Demarest advised Elkem ASA on the Brazilian aspects of the divestiture of its Silicones division to China National Bluestar in a transaction valued at USD billion.

The firm’s mandate covered the implementation of local steps in Brazil required for the transfer of Elkem Silicones Brasil, in compliance with Brazilian corporate and regulatory requirements. The deal spanned multiple jurisdictions, including Brazil, Luxembourg, and Norway.

Demarest’s team was led by partner Luciana Cossermelli Tornovsky (pictured left), supported by partners Carlos Eduardo Orsolon (pictured top right) and Renato Canizares (pictured top left), alongside associates Yasmin Arai, Lucas Elias, Luiza Peralta, and Raissa Mendes.

On the Norwegian side, Advokatfirmaet Thommessen also advised Elkem ASA in connection with the transaction.
