Ferragut, Piscitelli & Dantas opens in São Paulo

A new tax-focused boutique, Ferragut, Piscitelli & Dantas, opened in São Paulo this June. Founded entirely by women, the firm concentrates on legal opinions, tax consulting and strategic litigation, and was set up by three tax practitioners with long-standing careers in the sector: Maria Rita Ferragut, Tathiane Piscitelli and Letícia Dantas.

The launch follows increased demand generated by Brazil’s tax reform in recent years, which initially centered on regulatory drafting and has since expanded into disputes. The three partners decided to combine their practices to build a firm with a dual focus on tax litigation and advisory work.

Maria Rita Ferragut has more than 30 years of experience in the legal field, having worked at several Brazilian law firms. She holds a “livre-docência” from the University of São Paulo’s law school, along with a master’s and PhD in tax law from PUC-SP, and teaches at IBET. She previously headed the tax practice at a full-service firm for roughly five years and has been a partner at firms of varying sizes. Over the years, she has represented associations and companies, both domestic and foreign, in tax disputes across the country, with experience before regional and superior courts in both judicial and administrative proceedings. She also contributes to tax disputes through independent legal opinions, has authored three books on tax matters, and coordinates the tax litigation group of the São Paulo Bar Association’s Tax Law Committee. She serves as a board member of Woman in Tax Brazil (WIT) and Tax & Women, and co-founded the Alumni 22 de Agosto Association.

Tathiane Piscitelli has more than 25 years of experience in tax law, with a career spanning academia and the drafting of legal opinions and technical notes on tax and public finance matters. She holds a bachelor’s, master’s and PhD from the University of São Paulo, and completed postdoctoral research at Oxford University (2019), IBFD (2023) and the University of British Columbia (2025). Since 2013, she has taught at FGV Direito SP across undergraduate, master’s and professional doctoral programs. She writes a column for Valor Econômico’s Fio da Meada blog, sits on the Board of High Finance of the São Paulo Commercial Association, advises the Brazilian Bar Association’s national Tax Law Committee, and co-founded the Women in Tax Brazil (WIT) collective. She previously chaired the São Paulo Bar Association’s Tax Law Committee (2019-2021) and served as a judge on the São Paulo Municipal Tax Council (2016-2018). She has authored several books, book chapters and articles on tax and financial law, including “Curso de Direito Tributário” (RT, 4th edition, 2026), “Direito Financeiro” (Atlas, 10th edition, 2025) and “Argumentando pelas consequências no direito tributário” (Noeses, 2011).

Letícia Dantas has nearly 25 years of experience in tax practice. A graduate of the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), she began her career in Salvador before relocating to São Paulo, where she worked for several years at a full-service firm focused on judicial tax litigation. She has also worked at firms of various sizes as an associate and partner, coordinating teams with a focus on both judicial and administrative tax litigation as well as advisory work. She holds a master’s degree in tax law from PUC-SP, where she is currently pursuing a PhD, and teaches at IBET and IBDT. She is vice president of the Tax & Women association, an advisor to the Women in Tax (WIT) collective, a director of the IAT (Instituto de Aplicação do Tributo), an advisor to the Brazilian Bar Association’s national Tax Law Committee, and an alternate judge on the São Paulo Municipal Tax Council for the 2026-2028 term.
