Arias advises FMO on $85m loan to Genesis
Arias Law, through its team in Guatemala, has advised The Nederlandse Financierings-Maatschappij voor Ontwikkelingslanden (FMO), together with other lenders, on a loan of up to USD 85 million to Fundación Génesis Empresarial (Génesis).
This loan will contribute to the sustainable development and well-being of rural communities in Guatemala, as it aims to provide Génesis with the necessary capital to foster economic growth and reduce inequalities in rural communities in Guatemala, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 8 and 10. This investment will allow Génesis to expand its reach and support more entrepreneurs in areas with limited access to financing options.
The financing, led by FMO, involved leading investors such as the Belgian Investment Company for Developing Countries (BIO), Norfund, eco.business Fund, Invest in Visions, and Enabling Qapital.
