Arias advises Holcim in acquisition of 100% of CEMEX Guatemala
Arias Law, through its Guatemala office, has advised Holcim on the acquisition of 100% of Cemex’s operations in Guatemala, from the due diligence phase through the completion of the transaction.
As a result of the transaction, Holcim in Guatemala now operates a cement grinding plant strategically located 5 km from Puerto Quetzal, the country’s most important seaport. It also has two fixed and one mobile ready-mix concrete plants, a marine terminal, and five land distribution centers. The company, which entered the Guatemalan market in 2023 with the majority acquisition of “Minerales y Agregados”, which specializes in mortars and adhesives, now has 150 new employees in Guatemala.
Arias’ team was led by partner Luis Pedro del Valle (pictured), together with senior associate Florencio A. Gramajo and associate Andres Marroquin. Also participating were partners Rosa María Arenales and Ximena Tercero, senior associates Francisco Zuluaga, Carlos Flores Presa and Álvaro Reyes, and associates Marco Tulio León and Juan Carlos Batres.
