ARIFA counsels Bladex on $400m syndicated loan from SMBC

Panamanian law firm Arias Fábrega & Fábrega has counselled Banco Latinoamericano de Comercio Exterior (Bladex) on the closing of a $400m global syndicated loan, in which Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) acted as sole lead arranger and bookrunner.

The transaction represents the largest syndicated loan closed in Bladex’s history, attracting interest from 33 financial institutions from Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Spain, Austria, the United States, India and China. Some of these entities represent new banking relationships for Bladex, contributing to the diversification of the bank’s funding structure.

ARIFA’s team was composed of partner Fernando Arias F.(pictured), assisted by associate Ana Isabel Quijano.
