Baker McKenzie adds new tax partner in Venezuela

Baker McKenzie announced that Oscar Morean has joined its Caracas office as a partner.

Morean has over two decades of experience in tax matters, including corporate taxation, international taxation, oil and gas taxation, tax litigation, capital repatriation, tax treaties interpretation, and wealth and estate planning.

He graduated in law from the Universidad Catolica Andres Bello and holds an LLM degree from the University of Florida. His extensive career includes 5 years as a senior associate at the Caracas office of the firm.

“Oscar’s expertise in strategic areas such as oil and gas and real estate, as well as wealth management, makes him an excellent addition to our already strong tax practice in Venezuela,” said Ronald Evans, the managing partner of the law firm in Venezuela who also chairs its tax practice group. “We remain committed to helping clients navigate the complexities of today’s business environment by providing high-quality legal advice in the most in-demand practice areas. We continue to reinforce the leading position we have held in Venezuela for the past six decades.

Prior to his return to Baker McKenzie, Morean was a partner at M&A Legal, a boutique law firm in Venezuela.
