Basham welcomes new partner

Basham Ringe y Correa has announced the incorporation of Carlos E. Martínez Betanzos (pictured) as a new partner to the firm, to lead the firm’s civil litigation, commercial litigation and arbitration practice, effective March 1.

Carlos has twenty years of professional experience in Mexico City and New York, as well as a practice focused on high-profile dispute resolution (both domestic and international), including civil and commercial litigation, commercial and investment arbitration, and general crisis management, in various industries, such as construction, automotive, energy, mergers and acquisitions, among others.

Prior to joining Basham, he was a partner at Fonseca Rodríguez Perchemlian & Martínez Abogados; counsel at Creel García-Cuéllar Aiza y Enríquez; and previously practiced at several international law firms, as well as at the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR) in New York.

Carlos holds a law degree from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) and an LL.M. in International Legal Studies from New York University. He has also taught General Procedural Theory at ITAM, Alternative Dispute Resolution at the Universidad Iberoamericana, and Civil and Commercial Procedural Law at the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas.
