Berkemeyer instructed on first PPP in Paraguay

Paraguay law firm BERKEMEYER Attorneys & Counsellors advised Sacyr Concesiones throughout the bidding process for the project. The firm will also act for the winning consortium.

This Public Private Partnership project, the first in Paraguay, was awarded to a consortium formed by Spanish infrastructure company Sacyr, Portuguese construction group Mota-Engil and engineering company Ocho A from Paraguay. The project includes a 30-year concession and $520 million investment for the expansion of two key roads

The roads link the capital Asuncion with the east of the country, a region with great economic potential. The project is hailed as a positive precedent for future infrastructure projects under the same PPP structure and signals confidence in the long term prospects of Paraguay

Managing partner Hugo T. Berkemeyer led the team working on this deal, together with Martin Carlevaro and Sofia Suarez.
