BLP advised Celsia in $320 million bond placement

Central American law firm BLP acted for electricity company Celsia in the placement of a $320 million corporate bond issued through its Panamanian subsidiary Alterenergy.

Celsia is a Colombian utility company that generates, transmits, distributes and sells electricity in its home country Colombia as well as in Costa Rica and Panama. It is part of Grupo Argos, the Colombian conglomerate.

The transaction, which closed last December 27th, was considered the largest corporate placement in the Panamanian securities market in 2017.

Partner Luis M. Castro led the BLP team which provided Costa Rica counsel to Celsia.
