BMA counsels Geely on joint venture with Renault
BMA Advogados has helped as Brazilian counsel, the Chinese automotive company Geely enter into a joint venture with Renault to launch a powertrain company that will rely on technology produced by the French carmaker’s plants in Argentina, Brazil and Chile in Latam.
In the transaction, signed on 11 July, 2023 (closing still pending), Renault and Geely signed a joint venture agreement with each company holding a 50% stake in the new company, which aims to become a leader in hybrid vehicle technology.
BMA advised Geely on the due diligence in Brazil and relied on partners Luciana Marsal and Adriana Fuzinato, associate Estêvão Orcini.
Jones Day acted as global counsel for Geely, including lawyers from Shanghai, Beijing, London, Madrid, São Paulo, and Brussels.
