Brazilian firms act on the acquisition of BASF by Sherwin-Williams

BMA advised the U.S.-based company Sherwin-Williams on Brazilian law aspects related to the acquisition, through its subsidiary Sherwin-Williams do Brasil Indústria e Comércio, of the decorative paint business of the German company BASF, including the Suvinil and Glasu! brands. Machado Meyer advised BASF.

The transaction will be carried out through an all-cash purchase for US$1.15 billion and is expected to be completed in the second half of 2025, after the satisfaction of customary conditions precedent, including the approval by the Brazilian Antitrust Authority – CADE.
