Magliona Abogados promotes Karla Cid to partner, strengthening TMT practice

Magliona Abogados, a leading Chilean law firm specializing in corporate law, intellectual property, and new technologies, has announced the promotion of Karla Cid (pictured) to partner. The appointment, effective February 18, 2025, reinforces the firm’s expertise in key practice areas, particularly in Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT).

Karla Cid’s journey with Magliona Abogados began in 2010, and after a brief hiatus, she rejoined the firm in 2020. Her promotion recognizes her significant contributions to the firm’s success, including her leadership in major transactions such as Mercado Libre’s acquisition of Portalinmobiliario.com in 2014 and advising Kaszek Ventures on financing rounds for Fintual and Phage Technologies in 2020 and 2021, respectively.

In recent years, Cid has been instrumental in advising Ascenty Chile on obtaining a syndicated loan with Natixis, MUFG, and The Bank of Nova Scotia, as well as supporting Sucden Chile in managing a credit line with Rabobank.  She also has expertise in financial technology (FinTech) shown in her work registering payment service providers (PSPs) with the Chilean Financial Market Commission (CMF) in 2024.

Cid’s professional excellence has been recognized by The Legal 500 Latin America 2025, which highlighted her as a Leading Associate in the TMT sector. She holds a law degree from the University of Chile and a diploma in Law, Technologies, and Telecommunications from the same institution.
