Carey and Weil advised Qatar Airways in taking up a stake in LATAM Airlines

The Qatari flag carrier instructed Carey and Weil for the $613 million deal. 

State-owned Qatar Airways is headquartered in Doha. LATAM Airlines Group is the holding which resulted from the merger of LAN Airlines and TAM Airlines, air carriers from Chile and Brazil, respectively. It is headquartered in Santiago de Chile. Qatar Airways is on expansion mode, it recently purchased 49 percent of Italian airline Meridiana and two months ago it raised its stake in IAG (International Airlines Group) the parent company of BA and Iberia. LATAM Airlines, BA and Iberia are part of the Oneworld alliance.

The LATAM Airlines deal, valued at $613 million, is expected to close during the last quarter of 2016, subject to conditions, including approval of the capital increase by its shareholders.
