Carey assists CMPC in $1m investment in Woamy
Carey has assisted CMPC Ventures in an investment of approx. US $1 million in Woamy, a Finnish start-up that produces a novel bio-based, recyclable and biodegradable foam to replace harmful plastic (polystyrene) foams.
This transaction was closed on 20 February, with White & Case acting as international advisor to CMPC, and Dottir acting as advisor to Woamy.
The investment was challenging, as it involved the co-ordination of national and international players (in Chile and Finland) and the preparation of documents contemplating agreement on new bio-based, recyclable and biodegradable products and technology to replace harmful plastic foams (polystyrene).
Benjamin Concha Figueroa acted as in-house counsel to CMPC.
White & Case’s team consisted of partner Janko Lindros and associate Liselotte Gronlund.
Dottir’s team was represented by associate Sami Toyras.
Carey’s team was led by partner Francisco Guzmán (pictured), with support from associates Sebastián Melero and María Ignacia Urzúa.
