Cariola advises Warner Bros. Discovery on licence to operate CNN Chile

Cariola Díez Pérez-Cotapos has advised Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) on its agreement with Carey Media Holdings (owned by Jorge Carey Carvallo, current senior executive of CNN Chile), regarding a licence to operate the CNN Chile brand in the territory of Chile.

As the current operation of CNN Chile is wholly owned by WBD, the agreement also includes the acquisition of 100% of the CNN Chile Television Channel by Carey Media Holdings, and WBD will have exclusive representation of CNN Chile for the rights to distribute and sell advertising on any platform. In addition, CNN Chile’s offices will continue to operate out of its current leased facilities in Machasa.

This transaction, signed on 4 April, follows the structure used by CNN in other parts of the world. The parties have worked together to ensure the continuity of CNN’s high quality content and standards. Carey y Cia acted as advisor to Carey Media Holdings.

Carey y Cia’s team included lawyers Salvador Valdés, Maria Anguita, Manuel Jose Garces, Daniela Pfeffer and Catalina Walker.
