Clifford Chance represents lenders in Bogotá TransMilenio financing

Clifford Chance has represented Société de Promotion et de Participation pour la Coopération Economique and Financiera de Desarrollo Nacional, as lenders, in the $130 million USD financing for the TransMilenio mass transit system in Bogotá, Colombia.

The funds will be used to purchase a fleet of 406 electric buses from Green Móvil, a joint venture of Colombian manufacturer Fanalca and French public transport operator Transdev. In addition, the funds will also be used to cover the supporting infrastructure for the operation of the fleet, including the corresponding charging stations and a 40,000 square metre yard and workshop.

Thanks to this acquisition, TransMilenio will now have a fleet of nearly 1,500 electric buses, making it the largest in Latin America.

Clifford Chance’s team was led by partner Fabricio Longhin (pictured left) in Washington DC and associate Julián Hurtado Vallejo (pictured right) in New York, assisted by associate Daniel Justus and paralegal Laura Cabrera, both in Washington DC.
