CMS Carey & Allende adds new partner

CMS Carey & Allende has announced the addition of Ernesto Eckholt (pictured) as a new partner, who joins the Corporate/M&A team and will lead the Venture Capital practice.

Ernesto has an outstanding track record in renowned law firms both in Chile and the United States, and experience in high-impact strategic transactions in the areas of Venture Capital and M&A, participating and guiding M&A processes, structuring investment funds, internationalisation of businesses and negotiation of complex deals. Likewise, in the field of startups, he has led the structuring of investment rounds, negotiations of shareholder agreements, implementation of stock option plans and advice on flip processes, to companies in various sectors such as technology, coworking, retail, energy and food.

During the last few years, Ernesto has resided in California, USA, where he has developed consultancies for startups and internationalisation programmes. This has allowed him to generate a valuable network of contacts with accelerators, funds, government entities and international startups, continuously advising a diverse portfolio of startups in areas such as SaaS, AgriTech, FinTech, Biotech and FoodTech. In addition, he is a permanent advisor to boards and C-level executives at several technology companies. He is an Advisor at Stanford Venture Studio, a program of Stanford University’s business school, and at the Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship at Santa Clara University, supporting the development of ventures with global impact.

He holds an LL.M. from the University of California, Berkeley, and is a lawyer from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, where he graduated with distinction. Prior to joining the firm, he worked at law firms such as NexLegal, Cariola Díez Pérez-Cotapos, Holland & Knight, among others.
