Cuatrecasas adds Alejandra Palacios as external advisor
Cuatrecasas has announced the addition of Alejandra Palacios (pictured) as an external advisor to the firm, based in its Mexico City office.
With a relevant track record, which includes being the first woman to chair Mexico’s Federal Economic Competition Commission (COFECE) from 2013 to 2021, Palacios brings experience to strengthen Cuatrecasas’ position, particularly in competition law across Latin America.
During his tenure at COFECE, Palacios led a team of 450 professionals who handled unprecedented antitrust cases in the country. Under his leadership, the agency was recognised as one of the 15 leading competition agencies in the world. She also served as vice-president of the International Competition Network (ICN), which brings together more than 130 competition agencies worldwide.
Alejandra Palacios holds a degree in economics from ITAM, a Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of California, Berkeley, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) also from ITAM and a Master in Administration and Public Policy from the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económica (CIDE). She is currently a member of the Boards of Directors of Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (NYSE: PAC; BMV: GAP), BBVA México and Grupo Alfa (BMV: ALFAA).
