Cuatrecasas assists BTG Pactual in first issue in Colombia

Cuatrecasas, through its teams in Bogotá and Mexico City, has advised BTG Pactual Colombia and BTG Pactual Cayman Branch on the issuance of first demand bank guarantees and irrevocable standby letters of credit in favour of various entities.

This transaction was carried out for an amount of more than $22 million US dollars, with the objective of developing infrastructure projects in Colombia and Mexico.

This is BTG’s first issue as a bank in Colombia, after receiving authorisation from the Colombian Financial Superintendency to become a bank in the country in October 2021. It is also one of the first transactions undertaken by BTG with a Mexican component.

BTG Pactual is a global financial company operating in investment banking, wealth management, sales and trading, corporate lending and asset management. It is present in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Argentina, the United States, the United Kingdom and Portugal.
