Cuatrecasas names Gizeh Polo as new partner in Mexico
Cuatrecasas has strengthened its corporate law practice with the addition of Gizeh Polo (pictured) as a new partner in its Mexico City office.
The new partner’s consolidated experience in developing transactions in the capital markets and in the debt and structured instruments market (CKDs and CERPIs) will contribute to the consolidation of an area that continues to be one of the Firm’s most important pillars of growth, while reinforcing its cross-cutting and international nature, as well as its presence in Mexico.
With 12 years of experience, Gizeh Polo has developed a notorious professional career with special accreditation in national and international operations related to issues and securities offerings of all types, as well as in certain types of financing, restructurings and regulatory aspects related to the Mexican financial system in general. He has had the opportunity to advise on various innovative structures within the Mexican financial market.
He holds a law degree from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from Georgetown University Law Center. Gizeh has several publications and is the author of a book on the general theory of law and the jurisdictional function. In addition, he has contributed to several compilations, World Bank publications and opinion articles in Milenio Diario and Letras Libres. He also teaches commercial law at ITAM.
“This is a great opportunity to develop the practice area specializing in the public markets for capital, debt and structured instruments, as well as in regulatory aspects relating to the national financial system in general,” said Polo.
Iván Libenson, managing partner of Cuatrecasas’ Mexico City office, commented: “The depth and sophistication of the Mexican market requires the highest level of specialization and Gizeh will help us to consolidate a practice area of great importance for the firm.”
Prior to joining Cuatrecasas, he worked at the Federal Judiciary Council of Mexico, as a consultant at C-Estrategia (IMCO Group), as an associate and later senior associate at the firm Creel García-Cuéllar Aiza y Enríquez, and as an international lawyer at Shearman & Sterling in New York.
